Burst and leaking pipes are commonly the result of a pipe corroding over time, but can also be cause by freezing in cold conditions and in winter, pipes can even rust from condensation, particularly on a hot water pipe, that forms small droplets in one place on a pipe, over time these spots where the water keeps accumulating will cause what we call pitting, small little holes almost pin head size that eventually will leak or start spraying tiny streams of water from the pipe, leaking and burst pipes can also be due to bad workmanship when the pipes where first installed we in South Africa now have a variety of methods of replacing and repairing burst and leaking pipes, we don’t always have to use copper piping that is mostly the better option, but always the more expensive option, we now have plastic and multilayer pipes that can be used for instance in your roof, walls and underground as main feed lines as well.
